Anniversary Messages from the Premier
We send messages from the Premier for the following occasions:
- 90th birthday
- 100th birthday
- Birthday over 100
- Golden wedding anniversary - 50 years
- Diamond wedding anniversary - 60 years
- Blue sapphire wedding anniversary - 65 years
- Platinum wedding anniversary - 70 years
- Wedding anniversaries over 70 years
Belated requests
If you missed a birthday or anniversary date, you can request a message from the Premier for up to 6 months after the birthday or wedding anniversary has passed. Following this 6-month period, you will be able to submit a request for the next occasion.
How to request a message
1. Download and complete the anniversary message application form:
2. Submit the completed application form with supporting documentation to the recipient’s state Member of Parliament.
To locate the relevant electorate office, use the local electorate search tool.
3. The electorate office will verify your application and will forward a signed copy to the Department of Premier and Cabinet Victoria for processing.
Applications should not be sent direct to the Department or the Office of the Premier.
Supporting documentation
Supporting documentation must be provided when submitting a message request. This is to verify the birthday or wedding anniversary details. Depending on the occasion, you’ll need to provide one of the following:
- Birth certificate (for birthdays)
- Driver’s licence including an expired driver’s licence (for birthdays)
- Passport including an expired passport (for birthdays)
- Proof of age card or similar documentation (for birthdays)
- Marriage certificate (for wedding anniversaries)
- Statutory declaration from any person with relevant knowledge, declaring the full names and full date of marriage of the couple, or the full name and full date of birth of the individual.
When to submit your request
Submit the message request no later than two months before the date of the birthday or wedding anniversary. This will help ensure the message arrives on time.
If you are unable to submit the request two months in advance, we cannot guarantee delivery by the birthday or wedding anniversary date.
Delivery of messages
We post anniversary messages to recipients via ordinary mail. If you are arranging a message on behalf of someone else and would like it to be a surprise, we can send it to a different postal address.
We do our best to send out messages from the Premier in time for the birthday or wedding anniversary. However, unforeseen circumstances may delay delivery.
Anniversary Messages from other dignitaries
Depending on the particular birthday or wedding anniversary you apply for, the recipient/s may be eligible for messages from the following dignitaries:
- The Governor of Victoria
- The Prime Minister
- The Governor-General
- His Majesty the King
Please note only one application needs to be made via a state electorate office and staff can advise which messages will be received.

Anniversary Messages Privacy Collection Notice
The Department of Premier and Cabinet (the Department) collects and retains personal information in accordance with the Department’s privacy policy.
The Department will generally use and disclose the personal information collected for Anniversary Messages, including any appropriate supporting documentation supplied to the Department, to relevant State and Federal government agencies for the purpose of sending Anniversary Messages to eligible recipients from other dignitaries.
Other government agencies can include:
- The Office of the Governor‑General,
- The Office of the Governor of Victoria,
- The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,
- Members of the Australian Parliament, and
- Members of the State Parliament
If you choose not to provide supporting documentation, we will be unable to provide a message from the Premier.
